Raised behind the Iron Curtain, Eva Koleva Timothy learned early on to internalize a sense of creative freedom and enthusiasm in a very bleak and oppressive environment. She never had a camera growing up, but was still constantly taking pictures in her mind. Every detail, she recalls, which spoke to life's beauty, its wonder and the reminder of a world beyond that gray Communist curtain, was captured in vivid mental detail and would later become the source of much of Eva's artistic inspiration. Now a distinguished fine art photographer in the U.S. and a Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain, Eva's photographs are included in a variety of public, corporate and private collections including th Smithsonian National Museum of American History, Oxford University. and the Museum of Fine Art Houston.
Timothy was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1992, shortly after she moved to Salt Lake City. Her creativity and love for learning drove her to study communications, photography and film at the University of Utah.
